We decided to have a little fun with Reading and do something different. We created a Wax Museum based off of Chris Van Allsburg's book, Jumanji. In order to do this, students got into small groups (based on 5 different scenes from the story) and then "recreated" their scenes with props, backgrounds, and costumes. Last but not least, they became the characters from the story when they posed as wax statues! We had some younger classes come in to "tour" our museum. Keep in mind that as wax statues, the kids were not allowed to move or talk - they had to stay as "STILL as STATUES!" It was fun!!!

Judy and Peter were playing Jumanji. All of a sudden, Rhinos burst through the wall and stampeded into the house! Splinters flew everywhere! China broke and tables cracked! Judy and Peter were so surprised!

Judy rolled the dice, and the square said, “Lost Guide.” There was a guide holding a map mumbling about where to go. He was lost! Then Peter rolled the dice, and the square said, “Python sneaks into camp.” A python appeared on the fireplace. The guide got scared and ran to the couch.

Judy rolled the dice, and she got a 3! The card said, “Volcano erupting!” All of a sudden, she couldn’t see Peter. The room started shaking and lava poured from the fireplace. The lava got into some water and steam went up into the air. The monkey went behind the couch!

Monkeys are in the kitchen stealing food! Peter and Judy walked in and saw them on the table and going through the refrigerator. The monkeys are throwing pans in the kitchen and making a terrible mess!

Judy and Peter were playing Jumanji when Peter rolled the dice and got a 7. He landed on, “Lion attacks.” Peter looked at Judy who had a look of horror on her face. When Peter looked behind him, he saw two lions sitting on the piano!
